1. Purpose

Pink Crumb Co. is committed to producing safe, high-quality cottage food products. This Product Recall and Traceability Plan establishes procedures for identifying, locating, and removing products from distribution should a food safety concern arise.

This plan applies to all cottage food products manufactured by Pink Crumb Co. and is maintained in accordance with the Delaware Cottage Food Regulations.

2. Scope

This recall plan applies to all products produced by Pink Crumb Co., including:

  • Artisan breads
  • Cookies
  • Cakes
  • Pastries
  • Seasonal baked goods
  • Other approved non-time/temperature control for safety (non-TCS) cottage food products

3. Product Traceability

Every production batch is assigned a unique lot number to allow products to be traced from production through final sale.

Lot Number Format

YYYYMMDD – Product Code – Batch Number

Each lot number is recorded on:

  • Production records
  • Sales records
  • Customer order records

4. Customer Orders & Distribution Records

Pink Crumb Co. accepts customer preorders through its website, social media, email, and other approved communication methods.

Each preorder is personally reviewed and confirmed directly with the customer before production and pickup. Products are distributed directly by Pink Crumb Co. to the end consumer through scheduled in-person pickup or other approved direct-to-consumer sales venues within the State of Delaware.

For every order, the following information is maintained:

  • Customer name
  • Telephone number
  • Email address (when available)
  • Products purchased
  • Production date
  • Lot number
  • Date of sale
  • Scheduled pickup date
  • Square order number or receipt number

Sales records are maintained electronically through Square and associated order records for a minimum of three (3) years.

5. Production Records

Pink Crumb Co. maintains a production log for every batch produced.

Each record includes:

  • Production date
  • Product name
  • Lot number
  • Quantity produced
  • Ingredients used (recipe reference)
  • Packaging date (if different)
  • Date sold
  • Sales location or pickup

Production records are maintained for a minimum of three (3) years.

6. Circumstances Requiring a Recall

A recall may be initiated if:

  • A supplier issues an ingredient recall.
  • Incorrect allergen labeling is identified.
  • Foreign material contamination is suspected.
  • Product tampering is reported.
  • A foodborne illness complaint is associated with a Pink Crumb Co. product.
  • Any condition exists that could affect consumer safety.

7. Recall Procedure

If a recall is necessary, Pink Crumb Co. will:

1Stop Distribution

Immediately stop the sale or distribution of the affected product.

2Identify the Affected Product

Using production logs and lot numbers, determine:

  • Product name
  • Production date
  • Lot number(s)
  • Quantity produced
  • Quantity sold
  • Quantity remaining
3Remove Remaining Product

Any remaining inventory from the affected lot will be:

  • Removed from sale
  • Clearly marked "DO NOT SELL"
  • Isolated until properly disposed of
4Identify Customers

Using Square sales records and order confirmations, identify every customer who purchased the affected lot.

Because every preorder is personally confirmed before pickup, Pink Crumb Co. maintains direct contact information for customers, allowing timely communication if a recall becomes necessary.

5Notify Customers

Affected customers will be contacted directly by telephone and/or email.

The notification will include:

  • Product name
  • Lot number
  • Reason for recall
  • Instructions not to consume the product
  • Return, refund, or disposal instructions
  • Pink Crumb Co. contact information
6Notify Regulatory Authorities

If required, Pink Crumb Co. will notify the Delaware Division of Public Health and cooperate fully with any investigation or corrective action.

8. Product Disposal

Returned or remaining recalled products will be:

  • Destroyed so they cannot be consumed, or
  • Disposed of according to local waste disposal requirements.

The quantity destroyed and method of disposal will be documented.

9. Corrective Actions

Following any recall, Pink Crumb Co. will:

  • Investigate the cause of the recall.
  • Review suppliers, ingredients, and production procedures.
  • Revise recipes, labels, or procedures as necessary.
  • Implement additional preventive measures.
  • Document all corrective actions taken.

10. Responsible Individual

The owner of Pink Crumb Co. is responsible for initiating and managing all recalls.
